TIP 1 : REMOVE IT WHEN SWIMMING
Choose stainless steel jewelry when you go swimming or go camping. If you wear jewelry that isn’t too precious, the risk of you losing the piece it reduced. It also prevents tarnishing, which is often more expensive to fix. If you lose a piece in a river, a lake or a swimming pool you will not be as bothered as you would if it were a lost diamond.
Here’s a sad anecdote from one of our clients: she was on vacation and she wanted to fish for the first time. When she launched her line, she heard something drop in the water. It wasn’t the hook that made the noise, but the 1-karat diamond from her engagement ring. Devastating, right?
Why is it easier to lose your jewelry in the water?
The cooler temperature of natural water sources causes fingers to shrink, which are often swollen from body heat. The ring therefore slides more easily. Fingers also become more slippery when applying sunscreen. Be careful at all times!
